We arrived home this afternoon at about two o’clock. The park where we were staying is only about sixty miles away, so the trip home is always pretty predictable and short. As we neared our home, it became apparent that the heavy bouts of downpours endured at Darien Lake were well behind us. Although it appears we have had some rain, it looks like it was substantially less!
When we got home, Michelle carried just about all of the stuff from the camper into the house. I emptied the refrigerator and cleaned it out and brought in just a few things.
Michelle began laundering the six loads of clothes that needed to be done and I refilled hummingbird feeders, balanced the hot tub chemistry, and checked on the pool. I then dragged out the lawnmower and mowed the front and side yard. I just didn’t seem to have enough “oomph” left to do the entire lawn.
It was so nice to fill the tub and lie down in a warm bath! It felt luxurious. I have eaten a Greek salad every day since Monday, and today I really missed the ones we picked up at a small family restaurant located not far from the campground. The salads I make never seem quite as good….
In lieu of the salad (Ben made dinner of pot stickers for the family, but they just didn’t sound good to me) I had a cup of tea and an English muffin with blueberry preserves. I sat out on the front porch….
It was so exhilarating to breathe deeply and not get a snootful of smoke! As much as I love camping, the atmosphere has been fairly heavy (at least at the campground) and the smell of smoldering smoke nearly drove me batty! As I sat on the porch, all alone, a breeze rustled the leaves of the trees. The music was incredible. No sounds of people partying or getting rowdy…..
Did I mention how nice it is to be back in the Bristolwood?
