The Butterfly Conservatory

In my not-so-humble opinion, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, has the most gorgeous gardens to be found in this hemisphere! I cannot imagine many public gardens that can rival the beauty found on the grounds of Ontario parks….they are meticulous and wonderful!

Ever since I was a little child, I remember loving paying visits to the horticultural gardens located near the falls. When Canada added the butterfly conservatory, that was just the icing on the cake!

We arrived here at about 4 pm,  and since the conservatory closes at 6 pm, I wanted to hurry inside to get some butterfly pictures!  I stressed as I hurried along the walkway, hoping that the family wouldn’t grow anxious as I spent time inside. Mark, the kids, and the Scotties all waited in the truck as I went in.  Hey, this was my Mother’s Day present, and since no one else was especially interested, they opted to watch a movie on the laptop while I wandered inside with the flutterbies!!!! (since it was kind of expensive, I didn’t mind going solo….no one to bother me while I had the camera…er, okay, I admit it….I had both cameras…..in my grubby little hands!

Okay, no further words, except to say that the basket of pansies and the horse were seen on my way to the conservatory!

  1. Great pictures! The horse looks as though it turned just to have it’s picture taken. The baby reaching for the butterfly is priceless!

  2. What a terrific Mother’s Day gift!!! Your pictures are stunning and awesome!!! I’ve never been to the conservatory, but I sure know what you mean about those Canadien parks!! I’ve often remarked about how much cleaner Canada seems!!

  3. Thank you for the comments! Carly, the picture with the baby included one very clever father. One person remarked how LUCKY he was to have a butterfly land on him. He smiled and said that he had taken one of the orange slices and rubbed it on the back of his hand! It was amazing, though, watching the little hands of the baby reaching up….

Jeanne, Niagara Falls, USA looks so pathetic comparatively. However, since our last trip to Canada, I was rather disappointed to see all the new “stuff”. It certainly has become more “tourist friendly” on a GRAND scale. I remember years ago, walking along the streets and seeing little shops along the street. Now, there is the gigantic casino and all of the BIG souvenir type stores. The one thing that never fails to amaze me, though, is how you can hear so many different “tongues” just passing by groups and families of people!
