As I promised yesterday morning, I am posting a very “colorful” entry!
I had planned to attend the NYSFOB….New York State Festival of Balloons last evening, but got involved in waxing our truck we are going to sell, and the time slipped away! I was so disappointed, but decided rather than be defeated, I would merely change my plans!
I told Mark I was going to get up early this morning and head to Dansville so I could be there for the 6:00 am launch. Ben heard me and decided he would like to go along with me. I padded up the stairs at about 9:30 last night, bent on getting up early.
I was up at 4:45 am. I cleaned the bedroom a bit, then woke Ben at 5:30. He sat up and giggled, saying, “I bet you thought I was asleep!” Well, Mark heard the raucous and said he would like to go along as well. So….we all got ready and were out the door.
When we arrived, there were two balloons in the air. Many people were parked in an old Ames parking lot….the store has been closed for years. Mark decided to poke around a bit and after we grabbed breakfast at McDonald’s, he drove around the airport where the event was being held. I couldn’t believe it when he found a church directly behind the airport! There was a sign in the front yard, greeting onlookers, and even providing coffee and cookies! This parking lot was the primo spot to watch the launches!
I took many, many pictures, as always. As the balloons filled and slowly lifted off terra firma, little children could be heard squealing! After all the balloons were hung in the sky over the valley, the only sound was the gas being released to allow the balloons to lift higher. It was such a beautiful and very colorful sight!
So, with no further ado, I will allow your own imagination to carry you off….
